Our Big Canoe Rentals FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)…
By admin | January 17, 2008
IBA Vacation Rentals reveives several rental inquiries daily regarding rentals in Big Canoe or in one of our North Georgia cabins. IBA Vacation Rentals is a “mom and pop” type business which means that we are always the ones that answer these calls or emails. Not surprisingly, we are often asked the same types of questions regarding rentals in Big Canoe and North Georgia, so we have decided to put together a short FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions):
Do you rent or sell North Georgia cabins (as in log cabin)?
Almost all of our rentals are located in the mountain community of Big Canoe which is about 70 miles north of Atlanta. Big Canoe covers over 7000 acres, and there are many styles of homes. In reference to the above question, we have several log cabins for rent. We also rent more modern (less rustic) homes that include every convenience for which you could hope. Give us a call at (770) 655-4303, and we’ll try to find exactly what you want.
Is there anything fun to do nearby?
Big Canoe is host to more activities than I could ever write about in a few lines, but here are some highlights. Big Canoe features a 27 hole Joe Lee designed golf course. Big Canoe also has multiple indoor and outdoor swimming pools and tennis courts, as well as a fitness center that rivals any commercial facility. There are miles of hiking trails and three stocked fishing lakes. The local North Georgia mountains are host to a variety of activities including hiking, camping, apple picking, pumpkin picking, white water rafting, gold panning, Amicalola Falls State Park, and if shopping is what you need, the Outlet Malls in Dawsonville is only a short drive away.
Is the weather different up there than in Atlanta?
Yes it is. Keep in mind that we are in the North Georgia mountains, and our elevation is higher than Atlanta’s. Some of the mountain peaks in Big Canoe go above 3000 feet in elevation, and it is noticeably cooler up there. In the winter, we tend to get more ice and snow than Atlanta as well. The snowfalls up here are gorgeous, but rarely last longer than a couple days. The community of Big Canoe maintains its own road crews, and they do an outstanding job of salting the roads and keeping them safe to drive on. You can read a couple of articles about North Georgia’s winter weather and snow in Big Canoe here.
Are there any local restaurants in or near Big Canoe?
There are several restaurants in Big Canoe. Some are within walking distance of rental units. There are also many restaurants just outside the gates of Big Canoe and more in Jasper and Dawsonville. You can read a separate article on our real estate sister site, IBA Mountain Homes, about restaurants and dining in Big Canoe. This article lists phone numbers as well as site links and type of food.
Does it have a hot tub? Or a game room?
I saved our most common question for last, and by a country mile it is “Does it have a hot tub?” This is often followed-up with “Does it have a game room or pool table?” Other than hot tubs, lots of folks want to have some other indoor activity available such a pool table, ping pong table, etc. Many of our rental units have these features…a few even have both hot tubs and pool tables. Almost all of them have a variety of DVDs, books and magazines, and board games available - perfect for a quiet evening or a rainy day. Again, call us to confirm unit availability with these features.
The bottom line is that IBA Vacation Rentals features North Georgia cabins and Big Canoe rentals that allow for a fantastic and relaxing stay here in our North Georgia mountains! Please contact Karin Elliott at (770) 655-4303 or email us for more information.
